History

On June 22nd, 2012, Sagamok Anishnawbek and Vale Canada Ltd. signed the Totten Mine Project Impact & Benefits Agreement. In 2015, Sagamok Anishnawbek and FNX Mining Company Inc. signed the Victoria Advanced Exploration Project Impacts and Benefits Agreement. The two agreements (collectively “the IBAs”) describe how Sagamok will participate in the following areas: environment, employment and training, contracts, and procurement.

In response to the opportunities described in the IBAs, Z’gamok Enterprises Inc. was formed as a wholly owned Sagamok organization with the mandate to maximize the economic development opportunities of the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation within its traditional lands and within the Northern Ontario region.
